IPL Photofacial

IPL Photofacial

IPL Photofacial or Fotofacial is a 30 minutes procedure that uses intense pulse light to penetrate deep into the skin to reduce pigmentation. The procedure effectively improves the skin texture, eliminate discolorations, reduce the pore size and help minimize fine lines & wrinkles. IPL Photofacial also encourages the production of new collagen (a natural protein that fills wrinkles), which helps reduce fine lines and improve skin tone.

IPL Photorejuvenation laser treatment is usually recommended for:

  • Removal of age spots and other brown or sun spots
  • Making skin texture better by encouraging production of new collagen
  • Reducing the size of the pores that helps to reduce oiliness temporarily
  • Improving blotchy, sun-damaged skin
  • Reducing wrinkles & freckles.

The Procedure

High intensity light waves are used to reduce facial wrinkles and skin discolorations. Eyes are protected against bright flashes of light with a protective eyewear. A cool gel is applied to the treatment area to lubricate the handpiece and to cool the epidermis during the procedure. Through this handpiece, brief intense pulse of light is applied to the skin. The number of pulses given depends of the size of the treatment area.

Often it takes multiple sessions (3-5) of IPL Photofacial to achieve optimum results, depending on the skin issues.

Recovery Time

The recovery time of IPL Photofacial is often short and temporary. Slight redness and swelling sometimes occurs after the IPL Photofacial procedure that disappears shortly. The best results of the treatment are noticed in weeks following the treatment.

Sun exposure is to be avoided for several days after the IPL photofacial and use of sunblock is highly encourages for at least 2 weeks. The results of the treatment last for a year or more.
