In the lower layers of skin, lie ground substance which is the scaffold for collagen & elastin fibres. Due to influences of gravity, sun exposure and ageing process, the properties and configuration of this substance and the fibresget altered. These changes lead to worsening of texture of our skin which becomes wrinkled, crumpled and sagged. Beneath the skin, lies fat which droops and deflates as we age, giving us a saggy appearance. What once was firm and supple skin becomes sagged and wrinkly. This can be thought of as excess skin and is akin to a dress that becomes too large as its owner loses weight.

Depending on the zone and degree of sagging, different skin tightening procedures can be offered to restore and rejuvenate the springy suppleness of youth. Primary mechanism used by different technologies is heat.
